Description: MAHAN’S PLATES(Apparently)by Dennis Hart Mahan, Professor and Head of the Engineering Department at West Point, 1824-1871 ? (I believe this volume is part of Elementary Treatise on Industrial Drawing by Dennis Mahan, 1853), 27 fold-out pages. Has no title page or copyright page so no date nor positive connection to Mahan’s text book (not clear if those pages have been removed or were never present). Contains 27 plates, each with multiple figures. First plate has illustration of drawing instruments, e.g., compass divider, French curve, protractor, etc., apparently referenced and described in a separate text. All other plates contain multiple figures apparently to be used as drawing exercises. Hardcover book in Good condition, tight and clean with no marks except owner’s signature on front free-page; Front hinge is open, but covers are solid. Pages are clean and white. Brown covers with gilt titles on the front are bright and clean; water stain on front-bottom; wear at spine ends and corners. No dust jacket.
