The wood is collected by me (and my sons if I bribe them ) and my chainsaw with a permit from the forest service. Manzanita is a hot burning fuel, so the collection of this wood helps prevent forest fires. After collecting, each piece needs to dry out for up to 2 years. I carefully select, cut, sandblast, and sand each piece until it's a perfect natural decoration for end use. Some of the many uses are aquariums, terrariums, bird perches, cat scratches, furniture, lamps, wood turning, garden decor, rustic decor such as curtain rods, wall hooks, wall art.... the list is as endless as your imagination!
