Description: The Marantz 1030 and 1060 integrated amplifiers are icons of the vintage HI-FI world. After several years of service components will start to fail and the 5B2 is no exception. The 5B2 has the important task of converting the transformers output AC supply to a DC supply which is used to power the whole unit! Since there is no modern direct replacement for a failed 5B2 the only choice has been to use a bridge rectifier in a modern package. The modern package not only makes installation difficult and unsightly but can compromise the units electrical safety if not installed properly. At Solid State Audio we want all 1030s and 1060s to keep rocking for years to come! We have been using our custom upgrade kit exclusively in all our restorations and are now offering it to everyone. Whether you're trying to repair a failed 5B2 or simply looking to optimize your listening experience, this Marantz 1030 1060 upgrade kit is a must-have. Our custom upgrade kit includes: 1. Brand new 5B2 replacement custom PCB 2. All the necessary hardware for installation The new PCB incorporates STMicroelectronics turbo ultra fast recovery rectifiers. The new rectifiers offer a substantial upgrade in performance and power rating over the originals. We performed a Total Harmonic Distortion measurement using our state of the art audio analyzer on a completely unrestored 1060. Tests were performed before and after the installation of our upgrade kit. Measurement was taken at 10 watts continuous with a 1khz test tone into an 8 ohm load as you can see in the test result picture distortion was dramatically reduced on the unit. The pcb also incorporates a set of new TDK X2 Safety film caps which replace the worn out old ones. This upgrade further improves the sounds and fidelity from 1030s and 1060s. After installed Bass is tighter, mids are sweeter and vocals become much clearer. The upgrade to fast rectifiers was something not available to these models until now! Installation of the new kit has been engineered to be simple and utilizes factory mounting locations which are already present in all 1030s and 1060s making installation fast, clean, and easy.
