Description: Up for sale is a classic Marantz Model Twenty Two AM-FM Stereo Receiver that puts out a continuous 40 WPC for your listening pleasure. When I purchased this Marantz stereo receiver, it was sold to me as a non working parts repair unit. My initial thought was to have it just for a spare parts unit, however I later decided to get it working again. So, after bringing it to a vintage audio repair shop for an assessment, I’m happy to say that all inputs and outputs are now working, including the lamps that illuminate the tuning dial, meters and stereo reception indicator. Although it’s working, based on interior and exterior cosmetic appearance, I would now consider it a good candidate for a full restoration project. It’s a clean sounding and well built receiver that predates the 22xx Marantz line of receivers. It has been cleaned up as in the faceplate and knobs removed, dial glass cleaned inside and out. I also cleaned the faceplate, all rotary metal knobs and metal pushbutton covers to remove any dirt residue. Looking at the pictures, you will see that there are several blemishes on the faceplate and control knobs, however for a receiver that’s 54 years old I’d say it looks rather good for its age. There’s also some peeling of the factory applied vinyl veneer on the lower edges of the metal cover. (Please look closely at the pictures for details.) I replaced all lamps behind the dial glass with factory spec 6.3V incandescent bayonet style lamps. All lamps function for the tuning meters, “stereo” indicator and tuning dial. All controls and pushbuttons were cleaned with an electronics and plastics safe deoxidizing cleaner and lubricant. All inputs have been thoroughly tested and work as they should. Both sets of speaker output spring terminals are intact and working. This Marantz Model 22 receiver is carefully and tightly packed in an oversized, double walled shipping box. The Marantz receiver is wrapped in plastic and sandwiched between several layers of protective styrofoam panels on all six sides for added protection and cushioning during shipping. Extra packing materials also utilized to protect the faceplate, knobs and pushbuttons. Thanks for looking.
