Description: This vintage real photo postcard features Austrian film and stage actress, Maria Holst (1917-1980). Holst made her film debut at the tender age of sixteen. She is most well known for her roles in "Der gebieterische Ruff " (1944), "Kiss Me Cassanova" (1949), and "The Trapp Family" (1956). For a short period, she was a star at Ufa after her sucess in "Operette" (1940). She was popular in musical comedies of the 1950's. Afterward, she focussed more on the stage. Holst died tragically when she choked to death on the food she was eating. The IMDb reports that Holst acted in 28 film roles between 1933 and 1959. This German postcard was published by Film-Foto Verlag as part of a series (no.3607/1). Note on the bottom of the image a logo for "Vienna Film" and a logo for "Tobis". "Vienna Film Ltd" was a large Austrian film company which in 1938, succeeded the Tobis-Sascha-Film Industrie AG. "Tobis Film" was a German film production and distribution company founded in the late 1920's. During the Nazi era, Tobis was one of the four major film companies. In 1942, all four companies were combinted to form a single state controlled entity. This postcard is in good condition (see scans).
