She earned her Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completing studies in the School of Medicine and School of Public Health. Ms. Garner began work in the field of integrative therapies in 1995, after becoming licensed in sports medicine. She developed Medical Therapeutic Yoga (MTY) as a postgraduate, interdisciplinary certification over a 20 year span, and has been teaching the curriculum for over 10 years. Ginger is a pro bono consultant with universities in Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and Canada, where MTY is being used as part of the masters and doctoral physical therapy curriculum. The program, which provides educational competencies for using yoga in interdisciplinary medical fields, is a first of its kind in the US. Gingers clinical specialties include public health education, orthopaedics, pain management, and maternal health. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
