Description: Meissen / Helena Wolfson 'Augustus Rex' Marked Porcelain Demi-Tasse Cup & Saucer. A wonderful 19th century hand-painted porcelain demitasse cup and saucer with the 'Augustus Rex' mark - used by Meissen and copied by Helena Wolfson This is a gorgeously decorated set. There are four panels, two with beautiful flowers on pink background and on the other two a courting couple with white background. Between the panels there are gold accents , also on the rims of the cup and saucer as well as on the handle of the cup. You can find the original Augustus Rex/Meissen mark under the glaze underside of both the cup and saucer. The cup measures 2 5/8 inches wide from the rim to the handle and stands 1 1/2 inches tall. The saucer is 4 1/2 inches in diameter. Note: there is some age/wear related gold loss on the handle of the cup.However, overall the pieces are in very good condition, no chips, cracks or hairline fractures.
