Nickols with copyright date 1944, University of Chicago Press, Chicago. The book measures 9" x 6" x 1" and features a photo of New Salem, Illinois log cabin village on the covers. The book has maps on inside boards, index to notes and two photos of Mentor Graham. One photo is adjacent to title page (see my photo of this) and the other is later in the book. Graham is wearing a Lincoln style hat. Interesting. The book has appendix and epiloque at the back. There is no dust jacket (if any originally). The name of original owner is on the title page.
