I can make many plugs and adapters for the plugs of your equipment if you send me your old leads or let me know. Having a jumper, like Rycom used to use will save you a bundle on the more expensive plugs by switching to the 1/4 jack. I use my Vivax to test the Radiodetection 8 plugs, Subsite 6 plug, the XLR and the 1/4 jacks. If you have a Dyntatel or the newer Subsite 6 pin and you send a broken set I can fix or give discount on new wires. The end clamps and the plugs are the most expensive part other than labor. These are built in house using 18 gauge lead wire from a local Wire company. OEM & other sellers use 14 or 16 inferior silicone wire from China that will hold up OK, but does not age well in the UV and even though it might have a higher strand count it is poor tinned copper wire that is hard to solder. These have a 65 strand 18AWG wire. I have tried all types of leads and wire in my locating day to day for almost 20 years, this wire is great and strong. with a good insulator and good solid well tinned wires that readily accept the solder. What most folks on Ebay won't tell you is the pins on most locator plugs only accept about a 65 strand multi tinned wire because of their size and the limited space for the wires without shorting, so to make with the larger AWG either they have to cut down the wire count, or you end up having mechanical stress from forcing it past the strain relief or covers for these plugs. My leads are 20 ft long, 10ft for both black and red. I know the usual size is about 12-14 for Vivax and that is always just a little short. It would save some on the cost, but I have seen leads as short as 6 feet on here, honestly how can you really use that short of a set? We know finding a ground is always an issue. As stated above, you may not need a ground extension, but if you do I can make those also. I Crimp, then solder the nickel coated copper eyelets on the clip ends and use marine grade shrink tubing for the eyelet, the wire to the clamp mechanically, then the whole wire and clamp over the locknut and bolt. It takes longer to assemble, but helps prevent internal wire breaks from stress bends and mechanical failure, which is the most common problem, The pull strength of this wire is several hundred lbs before it will pull apart. Tripping over them right? Honestly, I used to stress release the clamp ends and the plug for my equipment with electrical tape. I get years out of set of leads with just that and the velcro strap rolling them back up each time I use them. I am using up my stock of Amazon lead ends and am switching back to Mueller for the clamps. They are the best price and higher quality, some of these leads are the Amazon ends until my stock runs out. I have used these for years with no problems. The 1/4 jack ends are Neutrik, which is a quality brand and used by some OEM locators. I have been fixing locators for over 10 years and locating for over 19.
