Doves and birds are a highly desirable subject and carried a lot of symbolism and meaning to the Victorians. This brooch dates to the early 1900s. The original hinge and c clasp are in working condition. Measures roughly 27 mm x 24 mm at the widest points. There is minimal to no tesserae loss in the mosaics that I can detect (the tiny handmade glass tile pieces). There is a very old inscription on the back, which I find very charming and adds to the brooch's provenance.
