Our store was named after our cat Alice, back in 2009, when we first started on eBay and most of the stuff we sold was coming out of his mother's Attic. Hence Alice's Attic Antiques. We specialize in antique & vintage dinnerware, home decor, silver, serving pieces etc. Items you would use when your hosting a dinner or other get together. We have replacement pieces also, so you can complete that set of china you got from your grandmother and one of the cups is broken. There are two of us here, Jason & Michael. Jason specializes in identification. He could be at a yard sale and see a glass vase, look at the pattern and the bottom and give a rough year and maker for items, to me its a clear vase. However I have been in retail management since I was 18, so my expertise is in all the mechanics of running the store. Customer Service, packaging & shipping, etc We are also a Green Store! Our packing materials are all obtained from a friend of ours who works for a local factory. They just throw it all out so we worked out a deal where he bags it up and brings it over and we reuse it. Lots of foam, bubbles etc. We even shred everything for filler, junk mail, paper from my work Our boxes are either obtained through my work, reusing the ones that came in or via USPS which are mostly (if not 100%) made of recycled material. We ship within 24hrs of payment Monday - Saturday. (Excluding Holidays) Combined Shipping Yes, when we can, sometimes things just cannot be combined to ensure a safe transport from us to you. EBay automatically calculates combined shipping costs during checkout; we credit it back to you if there is a significant overage. That said, in rare cases, there can be a balance due for shipping (Size surcharge, international weight/shipping restrictions, etc). We will invoice you for the difference via Paypal before the item ships out. How do you usually ship? Is it tracked/Insured? We ship out items via Priority Mail. With eBay discount, the cost comes out to about the same as Parcel Select, arrives in 1-3 days, and is fully insured in case of damage. Parcel Select can in some cases be a bit cheaper but is NOT insured and can take up to 9 days to get to its destination, that's multiple destinations and sorting, longer transit means more chance of damage. Why is the shipping so High on some larger items? It's just that, it's a larger item. USPS Implemented new rates that now calculate the postage cost by Weight & Dimensions of a package so they charge whatever is greater. Don't forget some items are just outright HEAVY. A dinnerware set, A punch bowl, and a stand, and we are in Massachusetts so pretty much anywhere west of the Mississippi River is more expensive to ship to. Why don't you offer free shipping? Simple: It's not practical. Technically we could but that would cause at least a $10 price increase on all items so better just not to. We do not make anything from shipping, we charge the amount USPS charges us. Say we sell a dinner plate for $24.99 with free shipping. That's $10 to ship to California, So that takes it down to 14.99, minutes the 12.5% for eBay/PayPal fees which takes it down to around $13. (not including the cost of packing material, initial listing fees, etc) So to offset that, the 25-dollar place would have to be bumped up to 37 dollars to offset all the costs. Thank you for understanding this, we are not a large company, we operate out of our house. There is always the make-an-offer feature to work out a deal with. My Item arrived damaged, or didn't arrive what do I do? First off you have our apologies. Not only do we sell on eBay but we buy also and have had the unfortunate experience of having an item arrive in a dozen different pieces. It's terrible, especially if it's hard to find. If you take a look at our feedback you will see that the number one compliment we get is out packing and safe shipment, however, the USPS is an unpredictable beast, and sometimes accidents do happen. Luckily for us since 2009 we have only had a handful of broken items. Below are the steps to follow if your item arrives damaged. 1. I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT Use the Returns or Item not as described feature. That is like walking into a retail store and demanding to speak to corporate, it immediately puts up a wall, we are human and will take care of you. Simply contact us, Via "Ask a question, Question about using my product or other" let us know the item was damaged and we will take care of the rest. We ship out everything insured just in case that happens. 2. Hang onto the package/item until we give the green light. We will usually need a picture of the item/package also. I haven't had it happen before but have heard that sometimes USPS will ask a buyer to bring an item to the local post office for inspection. I think this is random to identify flaws in their system but who knows? Once we give you the go-ahead you can toss it or whatever you want. 3. We will file the insurance claim and you will be reimbursed via PayPal. The insurance covers the entire transaction amount. Typical turn around is 5-7 Business days, barring any appeal I have to submit because I got a cranky USPS Claims Rep. Lost packages take longer as they have to work to trace it down, speak to carrier etc Ebay policy is a 30 day return policy, we do not actively accept returns due to the nature of our items. The only time we would not challenge it is if it is an error on our part. Each potential return is handled on a case by case basis. One critical set in stone thing is once an item has been used/cleaned/polished it cannot be returned. If in the unfortunate and rare case your item arrives damaged please see the FAQ tab and it will guide you through the process of rectifying the situation The below applies to nearly everything we sell. "The items we sell are old and most have been previously used as some point in time. (Antique/Vintage) They may show minor signs of wear such as light scratches, fading (Color, maker's marks, patterns) , Silver items do tarnish, Scuffs, minor makers defects, sometimes dust/debris can be on/in an item if we chose not to risk cleaning the item. Ceramics & Porcelain do craze this is a natural part of their life and is not damage. Common with entire dinnerware sets, not every piece contains makers marks. We do our best to take accurate pictures however lighting and angles can slightly affect the shade of color on items. Please see listing for description, pictures and notes of any significant damage if present. Please ask all questions before bidding/buying. Thank You" We no longer ship internationally ourselves. We use the Ebay Global Shipping Program. They take care of everything on that end. If you are international and there are any issues with your package please contact ebay customer service. Per ebay policy we are not allowed to put our direct email here so the best way to reach us is via the "Contact Seller" located at the top right of the page and click on "Other" that will message us and we will respond as soon as we can. In the event your item was damaged during transport, please click on the Shipping FAQ Tab for instructions on what to do then send us a message and let us know so we can take care of that for you.See our other itemsThank you for stopping by!
