Description: MCM Modular Shelf System in Orange by Olaf von Bohr for Kartell Italy 1960’s For sale is this vintage and very unique modular shelf system in Orange by designer Olaf von Bohr for Kartell; from the Italian Space Age style. The underside of each of the 5 shelves is marked:KARTELL ® MILANODesigner Olaf von BohrMade in USA by Beylerian Limited-Patent Pending The unit is made of ABS plastic and was produced from 1969 to 1975. There are 5 total shelves + 10 total side pieces (2 sides being the bottoms with the curved bottom edge) that fit together like a puzzle. Dimensions:The shelves are 32.5” wide with 29” of that being useable space and each shelf is 10 7/8” deep.The entire unit is 70 ¾” tall. The shelfing unit is in used condition belonging to 1 Los Angeles area family for many decades before I removed it from the house. It has obvious signs of wear when looking up close. Some of the shelves have water stains from potted plants or teacups that sat on the shelves for years and discolored the orange plastic surface. There are also various scratches, some minor dings, scuff marks, dirt smudges/stains, orange paint fading, orange surface discoloration from liquid, surface staining and tape residue on 1 side piece from prior usage. No major cracks detected on my inspection and cleaning. Only 1 bottom side piece has a tiny piece of plastic that broke off (photo #8) but does not affect usage/sturdiness. Even with these imperfections, once you place objects on the shelves, it will literally cover up these blemishes. I put the worst stained shelf on the very top, so it’s not as noticeable; as this top shelf has what appears to be drip stains on the orange plastic. Overall, the entire shelfing unit looks awesome in any room. The unit can be quickly taken down for moving or storing. Sometimes the shelves get a little stuck to the side pieces and some elbow grease is needed in pushing upward on the shelves. For shipping, I will be re-using a large furniture box to ship. Each part will be protected from rubbing and hitting each other. I may have to use 2 boxes total due to size, shape and weight. Please expect at least 3 business days between paying and shipping out, to allow me time to carefully package each piece. Please review all photos and ask any questions.
