Description: I have been an avid collector for over 50 years. Now that I am pushing 70, I am being encouraged to sell off my collections so my son won't be overwhelmed with all my stuff. I am in the process of moving my home office to another room in the house and listing a lot of small items that were in a massive display case that I had to move. I also rarely got rid of personal items from my past that remind me of my "good old days". This is my Aurora TJET Custom Mustang Slot car in red. I have always built models and back at that time you used the small 15 cent bottles of Testors model paint to brush paint your models. Spray paint was 69 cents a can and only the rich kids could afford that stuff. Considering that, and that I was probably 11 years old, the cars don't look that bad. I tried to make the TJET look as close to the larger model as I could. I painted the lettering with a tooth pick. I cut a hole in the hood so I could put in the velocity stacks. Being nearly 60 years old the larger model has not fared quite as well. Plastic has the tendency to get more brittle and the glue seals can break down. On the model, the back wheels have broken off and the front axle and wheels have broken off. The motor is also loose. I am including the large model because I felt that if you like the slot car, you might appreciate having the inspiration for the slot car. I am the original owner of both cars since new. My brothers and I had a track in our parents house in the 60's. The car ran fine the last time I used it 55+ years ago. The car has been stored in my custom made "SLOT CARS" box since then in my display case. I have no track or transformer to test the car, but it ran fine the last time it was used. I am sure it needs a good cleaning. This sale is for the Mustang slot car and the plastic model Mustang only. Look for my other listings. I have three other cars, several car bodies, and parts that I will be listing from the SLOT CARS storage box.
