Myrtle Essential Oil Product: Myrtle Essential Oil 100% Pure Latin Name: Myrtus Communis Country of Origin: Morocco Extraction Method: Steam Distilled Parts Used: Leaves / Twigs Description: Myrtle essential oil is extracted from the leaves and twigs by steam distillation, and is usually a pale yellow to greenish color, with a fresh scent reminiscent of Eucalyptus essential oil. Common Uses: Myrtle essential oil is mainly used in European aromatherpy, and is excellent as a milder version of Eucalyptus essential oil. It is commonly used for bronchial complaints in children and elderly people, having both decongestant and antibacterial properties. It is also used to help treat muscular aches and pains, acne, hemorrhoids, oily skin, open pores, asthma, bronchitis, catarrhal conditions, chronic coughs, tuberculosis, colds, flu and infectious disease. Common Applications: Painful coughs and bronchitis: Add 2 drops of Myrtle essential oil to a ceramic bowl of hot tap water and inhale the vapors, covering your head with a towel. Inhale through the nose and mouth alternately to coat the respiratory surfaces. Repeat 3-4 times a day, and preferably return to bed after each inhalation to prevent becoming chilled. Muscular aches and pains: Add 5 drops of Myrtle essential oil to 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and massage gently into the affected area. Cover the part with a warm compress or towel to help relieve any stiffness. Blends well with the following essential oils: Bergamot, Lavandin, Lavender, Rosemary, Clary Sage, Hyssop, Bay leaf, Lime, Laurel, Ginger, Clove and other spice oils.
