Description: Very rare early original vintage stereoview photograph shows a frontal view from the pier of the Wauwinet House in Nantucket, Massachusetts. The Wauwinet is one of the oldest and most historic hotels in Nantucket. The Wauwinet House first welcomed guests in 1875. The inn was named after the chief of the Indian tribe that inhabited the eastern section of the island. The Wauwinet House was the scene of relaxing times. It was a glorious sail up harbor where many people attended shore dinners serving clam chowder, boiled lobster and pastry. Dinner was followed by quadrants, polkas and waltzes. Notable Cape Cod photographer’s credit reads, “J. FREEMAN - NANTUCKET” This is a vintage photograph and not a copy or reproduction. Stereoview photograph measures 3 1/2 x 7 inches and is in excellent condition with no bends, tears, or creases and is very sharp and has strong tones with good contrast and clarity.
