Description: Natural and untreated rough sapphire crystal from Rock Creek, Montana. I purchased this rough back in 2004 in a larger 50 gram parcel directly from the original prospector who had access to a small placer deposit in Rock Creek, Montana. I never got around to cutting or cabbing any of the rough from the parcel , and after being asked by several customers if I had any uncut Montana sapphires I decided to list this one and a couple others. You will receive the exact sapphire in the picture. Pictures were taken under a bright OTT light to show better detail and coloring. I also provided back-lit photos to show the true Transparency of all the stones. This sapphire has a very unique vivid teal color with a saturated hue that is very rare! This is one solid sapphire rough gemstone with no treatments or enhancements from an alluvial placer deposit. This rough sapphire is free of any matrix or host rock. Alluvial crystals are often preferred because after thousands of years of weathering (tumbling down a river and having debris constantly washing over them) all that often remains is the best part of what the rough crystal originally started as.
