I like to use a slightly larger diameter screw than the major manufacturers use. I find it holds the neck much better and is more sturdy. So, be careful if you are replacing a plate that used the thinner, lesser quality screws. Also, the gasket is really more of a decorative touch, although some believe it improves isolation between the plate and the body. You can either use the gasket or not. It's personal choice. I'll also mention that you should always make sure new screws are not too long for your application. You don't want to drive a neckplate screw through your fretboard .. that's why I always suggest using your old screws if you just replacing the plate ..
