Dramatic and beautiful wildlife bronze with stunning depiction of the mother wolf demonstrating to her three cubs a critical lesson. Look closely and you will find "experience" talking. The highly curious babes look on as she deftly moves in to disable the threat as if to tacitly say, "...know this and never cry, (you are) Wolf." This bronze sculpture is on a marble base, sitting on a wood platform constructed together with a 360-degree swivel 'lazy Susan' underneath and stands 9.5"H x 18"L x 12"W. Created by famed artist David Manuel (1940- ), it is signed on the back and numbered 87/99. Let me know if you need more detailed pictures, and I can get those to you. David Manuel, born of Italian decent and raised in Walla Walla, Washington began his career in art at a very early age. In the 1980s he had the honor of many commissions, including three monuments of John Wayne. This gained him the title of "Authorized Sculptor" for Wayne Enterprises. Later in the '80s, Manuel was chosen the Official Sculptor for the "United States Marshals Bicentennial." This monument, previously on display in the founder's wing at the Cowboy Hall of Fame, is now placed in the Department of Justice in Washington D.C. A smaller replica of this bronze has found its home at the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. In 1992, Manuel and his wife Lee were honored with a request from the office of the Oregon Trail Coordinating Council, Oregon Trail Celebration '93. Among many honors this included a monument designed by the artist. This assignment also held the title of "The Official Sculptor for the Oregon Trail."
