Description: Up for sale is a dozen of the nearly 1,000 of these timetables issued in early 1966 before the NYS&W received permission to discontinue passenger services. The railroad is still around as a freight railroad today. To quote railroad historian Otto Vondrak, “This timetable was assembled and printed privately by a group of enthusiasts who were trying to encourage more people to ride the NYSW commuter trains while the railroad tried to discourage them and shut down the operation. The railroad had ceased distributing timetables, which prompted the action. The train names were added by the enthusiasts. Only 1,000 copies were printed of this timetable. Despite their efforts, trains were dropped in June '66.” Unlike earlier timetables, these featured a green and beige print because of a printing error. Many of the enthusiasts involved in this effort would later go on to be managers at New York City Transit, Metro-North and other rail and transit properties. Because of how close the NYS&W railfan community is to me, half of the proceeds from these timetables will go towards various railway preservation in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area.
