Previous owner, Walter Wadepuhl, bookplate affixed to the inside front cover. Wadepuhl (1895-1989) was known for his scholarship on German poets Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Heinrich Heine. Dr. Wadepuhl was head of the Department of Languages and Comparative Literature at Elmhurst College where he also taught German for nineteen years. In 1964, he was appointed Distinguished Visiting Professor of German at Florida Atlantic University. Has gilt lettering on cover and spine, Frontispiece, Table of Contents, Appendix, Pull-Out Maps, 217 pages. Measures about 5 ½” x 7 ½.” Flexible hardcovers, have some wear, mainly to corners, edges, and spine areas, light discoloration. Pages are lightly tanned from age, have light corner creasing; no writing or highlighting. First front end paper has small edge tears. Fold-out maps are tanned from age, with some tears along the creases. Note that I have described the book as best as I can.
