Description: For your consideration is this very nice, well-formed octahedral crystal of the rare manganese sulfide species alabandite from the Merelani Hills District, Arusha, Mayara Region, Tanzania.Alabandite reaches its zenith as a species at Merelani, and about ten years ago a major find yielded perhaps a thousand world-class examples which pretty much rendered all other localities for the species insignificant.
