Description: NICELY CURVED & CARVED REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD POWDER HORN, w/Plug, Vermont DESCRIPTION: Another really nice & unusual antique Revolutionary War period POWDER HORN from my personal collection, used to store gun powder by individual riflemen for use with their flintlock muskets. This one has nice curves and a nice shape, and has a very nicely carved pouring end. Measures about 9 1/2" along its length. Pouring end is unusual, nicely carved, and VERY MUCH THE STYLE OF A REVOLUTIONARY WAR POWDER HORN. This one STILL HAS ITS ORIGINAL CARVED PLUG IN THE POURING END, particularly nice as they are usually missing. Has a large number of nice, particularly large early handmade iron nails to hold the wooden butt plug in. BUTT PLUG FiTS NICELY. It is also highly domed and hand carved which is nice. Has ao nice piece of folded leather on the butt plug for hanging. Appears original, but hard to say for sure. This has all the attributes, design, style, patina, size, and look of a Revolutionary War period horn. Has really nice color, markings, and horn characteristics. Has a great look, for addition to a collection or to hang with a musket over a fireplace. Nice condition. A really nice horn, from an early Vermont estate. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS!!!
