Description: This is a nifty cover sent from the New York City, U.S.A., to a Colonel Thomas J. Lord, Adjutant General's Office, War Department, Washington, D.C., on April 21, 1880! Colonel Lord was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Company K, 36th New York Infantry Regiment! Online records state that he had also served in the British Army! To continue, the green, 3-Cent, "Washington," is in pretty fine condition. The duplex cancel from the New York City P.O. is awesome! The receiving, "Carrier," cancel from Washington D.C. P.O. is pretty good, but is light/faded in some areas. Lastly, the envelope is in fine condition! It's very clean! The back flap is more than 90% intact! Noted imperfections, aside, this is still a neat piece of postal history connected to a veteran of the Civil War, U.S. Army Colonel, Thomas J. Lord!
