Major Duties Supervises, plans, reviews, and coordinates the work of the Traffic Signals, Signs and Markings, and Parking Meter Repair units. Oversees the maintenance, repair, and installation of traffic control devices and related systems, street and traffic signs and markings, and City parking meters. Develops and implements maintenance plans and phasing to ensure function of city-wide streets. Monitors and maintains inventories. Tracks assets and systems equipment. Orders materials, equipment, supplies and services required for Traffic Signals, Signs and Markings, and Parking Meter Repair activities. Oversees the Traffic Signals, Signs and Markings, and Parking Meter Repair work areas to ensure efficient use of space for storage and the safekeeping of materials, tools, and equipment. Works with staff involved with the design and construction of capital improvement and traffic mitigation projects. Inspects work completed by contractors related to the construction of capital improvement and traffic mitigation projects. Oversees the construction, inspection and maintenance of the City-wide Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS). Responds to GO customer service requests. Investigates complaints from the public regarding deficiencies in traffic control devices and parking meter revenue control devices. Makes recommendations to the appropriate staff so that corrective measures can be taken. Maintains maintenance and cost records and related files. Prepares a variety of correspondence, reports, requisitions for supplies, and work orders. Prepares estimates of staffing, time, materials, and equipment required for construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic street traffic control and parking meter systems. Selects, develops, and evaluates assigned staff. Determines and implements criteria and standards for work. Establishes work rules and seasonal and daily work assignments. Monitors teamwork progress and assigns staff roles and responsibilities. Tracks goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in alignment with departmental performance measures. Establishes safety rules and training needs, and conducts safety and training programs for Traffic Signals, Signs and Markings, and Parking Meter Repair staff. Assists in budget preparation and financial forecasting. Prepares budget requests and recommendations for the Traffic Signals, Signs and Markings, and Parking Meter Repair sections. Provides fiscal supervision and oversight over procurement activities. Maintains cost records and related files. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
