Description: This listing is for a collection of 3 canid teeth from the Arikareean (Late Oligocene) Brooksville 2 site in Florida. The fossils are found in fissures within the rock and are interpreted as being the inhabitants and prey of animals that lived in the cave system. Rare material and excellently preserved. The presence of Bat fossils confirms the idea that these fissures were part of a cave system. All our material from this locality is part of the microfauna with most pieces measuring ~2 to 4 mm long. You need magnification to properly view these fossils, but they are wonderful examples of a 28 million year old cave environment. The specimen(s) are shown in a ~1.25 inches wide gem jar for scale.
