Description: Summer Games Celebration Discount Price $290. This is an official vintage Olympic Poster of the 1972 Munich Summer Games that captures the essence of modernist mid 20th Century photography merged with the vibrant colors of the pop art movement. The artwork is a rare limited edition high quality lithograph printed in Germany in 1972, not a licensed reproduction. It measures23.5 x 33.5 inches and is in excellent condition. The artist was Otl Aicher (1922-1991) a pioneer German graphic designer and typographer, who in 1966 become the lead designer of the Munich Olympic Games. Aicher specified that all the sport posters start with a photograph, this photo by Erich Baumann. The images were then solarized to achieve unusual effects & printed in bright color combinations indicative of the 1960s and 1970s. This one included silver metallic ink. The poster will be rolled and shipped UPS in a tube ready for framing. Sold by Spencer Road Arts, Glenford (Woodstock), NY.
