Description: We are offering an antique sword from the island of Timor, Indonesia. We believe this sword is called an Opi. There’s a similar sword with a same style blade that is called a Hemola. Honestly we are not sure if this is an Opi or a Hemola. Blade - almost straight back and edge. Slender and broadens at the tip. Laminated with thin silver streaks throughout the blade. Could be a nickel component in the metal. Reminds me of some Indonesian Keris’ that exhibits the same trait. There’s a copper dot towards the tip, not sure what the significance is. The very tip is bent and has some slight loss, not too distracting. Hilt - seems to be carved out of buffalo horn. In two sections, seconds section is smaller and is attached with a dowel. The fit is tight. The attached hair is coarse, could be from a horse. Scabbard - carved out of wood, rattan wrapped, rattan is unraveling as can be seen in the photos. View the photos closely for self assessment of the condition and for the dimensions. Message if you have any questions or concerns. 31.6.5.5 3.5
