Description: Original Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Syracuse Mimbreño ice cream shell, for left hand placement. Mimbreño dinnerware was inspired by the thousand-year-old pottery art of the ancient Mimbres Indians of Southwestern New Mexico culture. The iconic Mimbreño dinnerware pattern designs were adapted by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, one of this country’s earliest woman architects and was originally served in the Super Chief dining cars on the Santa Fe railroad beginning in 1937. This neat piece is 6” over the handle and is back stamped with the Syracuse China emblem followed by number 99-A date code, 1970, just before the end of Santa Fe passenger service. There are a couple of small imperfections on the back of the bowl where perhaps it had been displayed. See pics for more information on condition or size. Below the Syracuse emblem is “Made Expressly For Santa Fe Dining Car Service.” The antelope is pure delight! This is a great addition for any western china collection.
