CERVEN - SVETOVY DEN ZIVOTNIHO PROSTREDI" or "5th JUNE - WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY" Designed by: Jaroslav Chadima, most likely in 1984 Total measurements: approx. 84x58cm Condition report: poster was stored rolled, shows fold lines, may shows some tears and creasing especially on edges, in corners and in fold lines, some darker stain in the upper margin area - possibly shoe print Historical context: protection and maintenance of nature was a strong theme of communist propaganda in Czechoslovakia.However, the nature and country itself was under the high pressure and protection was not as successful as it looked from the promotional campaigns.Industry and enterprises were huge polluters and economic was strongly oriented on heavy industry, army production and defense.In Slovakia and Czechia are still today very polluted areas, in some cases these areas are near well-known national parks, cities or villages.Some people calls these areas as "heritage of socialism".
