Description: Up for sale is an incredibly cool GI bring back from the Battle of Leyte. These banners were brought back by Captain H.F. Gammeter of the 6th infantry division. After bringing these banners home as trophies, they most likely were just sitting around. Gammeter’s wife thought (typical of the depression era generation) that she would put these to practical use, and fashioned them into table skirts. These were originally sold from the family to the Smokey Mountain Knife Works collection and were on display there for awhile until they were sold. Two of the displays cards with the provenance comes with this lot. Not sure just how long they are, but the condition is excellent. There is a few spots with a small rip, but nothing major and they will display just as nicely. Very cool and very unique! Please look over all the pictures carefully to judge the item for yourself.
