Bruce escorted many hundreds of American B-24 and B-17 bombers in and out of Europe. He never escorted the Belle. His services were used to help save other American airmen. Bruce was the Knight on the White Horse who came to the rescue of many a Bomber crew.Bruce Carr was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, and Distinguished Flying Cross with six Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Medal with thirty Oak Leaf Clusters. He ended the war with fifteen enemy aircraft destroyed in aerial combat and another seven and one half more on the ground. I am an aviation artist and historian. I have worked with well over one hundred pilots from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the present-day Desert Wars. We have published 85 different prints since 1993.
