Description: This is a spectacular pair of superb, original finish Aubusson upholstered chairs. They feature antique upholstery with minor signs of age and wear from age and use such as wear to the threads and some minor stains, but nothing significant for chairs of such advanced age. The joinery and construction is mortice and tenon, which is indicative of period Frenc Louis XVI furniture as opposed to latter pieces made with dowels. The gilded finish is genuine 23 kt gold leaf and will show some wear to the finish from polishing dust and cleaning over time. The frames are in good solid condition and have vertical supportive spines in the back for extra strength. They date to the 1790s-1800 era and are truly remarkable.
