Description: These wonderful cast iron griffins were found near Allentown Pa. The faces at the top transition into a swooping body with wings and a sea serpents tail I have no history on them and I am unsure of their age. The finish, white paint with light surface rust overall makes me think reproduction. On the other hand the casting is very well done, no visible seams of sloppy casting, very crisp which makes me think old or older. Another point for old is that I've never seen these before, usually knockoffs are mass produced by the hundreds or thousands. There are mounts at the bottom and at the back that would have sat in masonry. Please look at the pics and decide for yourself. Each measures 23 inches tall, 13.5 deep and 4 wide. Weight is 55 pounds each. Overall they are in good condition, no breaks or loss. Ref 62108
