Description: Paris, FRANCE - Bombardment Rue Laffitte - March 8, 1918 - WWI: In World War I, Paris became a target for German bombardment aimed at demoralizing the Parisians. On January 30, four squadrons of seven German Gotha bombers each appeared over the city and suburbs to drop two hundred bombs. There were more attacks on March 8 and March 11. The attacks took place at night, and Parisians took sanctuary in the Métro stations. On March 8, 1918, Paris–German Gotha bombers had targeted Rue Laffitte. German Zeppelins had struck Paris before, on rare occasions, but this was the first time the Gothas had done so. Gothas dropped tons of bombs in a half-hour nighttime raid. This Divided Back Era, March 8, 1918, is in good condition.
