Description: This is a Pleasant Company Girl of Today #13 doll. She was made by Pleasant Company in 1996 and is wearing a ©1996 Pleasant Company tagged First Day Meet Outfit. She has fair skin, light brown hair and brown eyes. She was 1 of 20 dolls introduced in 1985 with varying skin, eye and hair combinations. She was the longest selling doll in this line, not retired until 2022. After Mattel bought Pleasant Company in 1997 they started making changes to the doll. They added more color to the face paint, slimmed the head molds and doll bodies. Starting in 2000 all of the Mattel made dolls had body tags. The dolls with bangs over a 4 year time period got new wigs with straight instead of these original pie cut bangs. She is the only one of the original 20 dolls to be sold in all 13 Meet outfits, which changed every couple of years. The outfit she is wearing is the "First Day Outfit" which came on dolls in 1996 and 1997. It has a yellow fleece jacket, striped shirt, black velour leggings, teal socks, magenta underwear and a striped scrunchie ponytail holder. (I have it around her wrist.) The original shoes were black flats, but manufacturing problems lead to Pleasant Company sending the dolls out in the Mary Jane shoes used by Samantha and Molly. They sent a note to explain the substitution. That letter is not included with this doll, but I have shown a scan of it.
