Description: Schiller's Poems and Ballads is a small blue cloth book with a blind stamped design on the front. The Spine has a gilded title and a gilded design encompassing the title. The spine does have noticeable chipping and rubbing. There is edgewear to the boards the corners are bumped. All edges of the text block are gilded. There are several signatures on the free end pages. A plate of Schiller is on the frontispiece and is tissue-guarded. The inscription pages state; "Inscribed to James F. Ferrier, Esq. Professor of moral philosophy and political economy in the University of St. Andrews: A slight token of gratitude for candid criticism, and of respect for enlightened erudition. " The text block is sound and boards are soundly attached to the spine. There are several notations from previous readers on pages.
