Description: Circa 1895 American porcelain CIDER PITCHER, - “KT&K Co, Lotus Ware”, green crown mark, - Knowles, Taylor & Knowles, East Liverpool, OH, USA, - Valenciennes (lace) pattern, - filigree netting in teal blue, - interspersed with hand-painted pink apple blossom and foliage, - Japanesque bamboo motif knotted handle, - mottled gilt rim and on handle. 5” tall, 7” spout to handle, 6”dia. Condition – excellent, no nicks, cracks or repairs. 1390 - KTK Co finest porcelain "Lotus Ware" line introduced in 1892-1896 and had a short production run due to high manufacturing costs. It was shown at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago sweeping every award in fine porcelain categories. - Lotus Ware decoration was prepared by a former Meissen factory decorator, Heinrich Schmidt. - Valenciennes = 1) lace, 2) a city in France known for fine lace-making. - KT&K Co - Knowles, Taylor & Knowles Pottery, East Liverpool, Ohio (1854-1931). In the late 19th century this was the largest pottery in the US with 29 active kiln.
