Description: This beautiful antique box showcases wood grain painted details and features applied wood initials on the front with a stepped plateau feature on top. There is a small interior compartment and a lock (no key). Ideal for storage or display, this antique box is ideal for those who appreciate the artistry of primitive design. Found in Western North Carolina, it may be from the region but it is not signed or marked by maker. I would estimate the date to pre WWI - afterwards Modernism became popular and styles like grain painting were going out of style. It most likely dates to 1860 - 1910. Size: 17” wide x 9.25” d x 7.25” h Condition: box and lid are stable. The original key is not included & I’m not sure if lock is operable. There is paint loss to areas and some dents and dings. Please view all photos as they best represent condition and details. Zoom in to see best condition view. Most of my items are vintage or older so viewing photos is important. Ask any questions you may have and I’ll get back to you asap. If you wish to pay by check or money order let me know before purchasing so I can change the listing to accommodate you. Postage is calculated based on box dimensions, weight, and shipping distance. When possible, I package items using recycled boxes as this is better for the environment.
