Great communication and service.The Tascam 234 was a true 4-track production workhorse designed for professional musicians and production studios! It was released in '83 for $800, that's almost $2,500 today!The 234 is a front-loading, rack-mountable cassette deck with all the functions that you'll need for high-speed, high quality, 4-channel sync recording and playback. It has VUs for each track, 1/4" ins, RCA outs, DBX II NR, recording speed of 3 3/4 ips (double that of standard cassette decks) and is variable +/- 12%. Additionally, each track features its own input, output and pan controls. It is also suitable for AV, or non-sync film and video soundtracks that are compatible with Tascam's other "Syncaset" machines, the 133 and 244. Because it offers selectable dbx II noise reduction, it is possible to create a 4-track master cassette with 10 different parts — none more than second generation recording. A pitch control holds normal pitch until pulled out and then provides 5 semitones deviation.To increase the audio quality of the recording, this Syncaset deck uses high-speed recording, 3-3/4 ips, twice the normal speed of a standard audio cassette. This rackmount deck also has the original factory feet installed, they are easily removed for rack-mounting. It uses three spaces in your rack, measuring only 13.75" deep and weighs just over 21 lbs. Condition:This rare deck is in "Very Good" condition with minor signs of use and a nice, clean front panel! Aside from some scuffs and scratches to the lid, there are a few small front panel scratches, some too faint to make out well in the pics. All the original knobs are present and complete, the plexis have minimal scuffing and the rack ears show some signs of previous mounting. This rack-mount deck came to us without feet installed, so we have added the pictured rubber pads to protect your surfaces. They are easily removed for rack mounting. The manual has gone missing but no worries, it can be found online or we will send you the PDF file directly on request. All comes in the pictured generic box with custom Styrofoam packaging.
