Description: This is quite a rare find. The reason why you don’t see Minecraft prototypes pop up, especially plushies, is because most of the time the company that makes them destroys them. So when you buy this little guy, you’re technically preserving history. These are the prototypes identifiers: No tush tag (not cut off, seam ripped, never sewn there in the first place) much, MUCH wonkier build, the legs are unevenly sewn and crooked, meaning they go in all directions. Not adequately stuffed, not a huge marker but it coincides with the other clues. Lots of puckers where the legs are sewn, I can’t tell if they are hand sewn there or machine stitched. You might be thinking that because of the shabbier appearance compared to the released version that it might be a bootleg, but that is not true in this case. The material is that of other Minecraft stuffed animals released the same year, not to mention the satin stitching is made from high quality thread. Bootleg Minecraft stuffies use cheaper fabrics and dull colored thread for satin stitching. The only strange thing about the prototype is how weirdly sewn it is, but there’s an explanation for that as well. Prototypes aren’t just sewn by anyone in the factory, they are sewn by an individual person on their sewing machine. In my experience, prototypes either look better or worse than their store bought version. Seems that the person who made him was a beginner at machine sewing, backed up by the fact there are a lot of “novice” sewer mistakes hidden throughout the plush. Note: The reason why I know so much about the process of prototypes is because I own many myself.
