Description: This is a Rights holding DVD created & produced by me and is not factory made or sealed. I strive to produce the best DVD's possible from the sometimes VERY old Public Domain material. Films that are public domain are unpreserved and not professionally re-mastered. I re-master all of my films myself to the best possible quality achievable. My DVDs are not the quality of todays Modern DVDs or Bluray discs. If you are looking for this kind of quality then these discs are not for you. All pictures are actual screen captures from the DVDs. Please note this when purchasing, but also know that all of the films are very watchable. To keep my prices as low as possible all my DVDs are delivered in plain paper DVD sleeves and the DVDs title will be labeled on the back of the DVD envelope. This way you can write the contents of the DVD on the DVD yourself if you want to. (See picture). All of my DVD's come with a menu for easy film selection. Total runtime of the DVD is 135 minutes. Item specifics are: Film 1: Beginning Responsibility: Lunchroom Manners" (1959) COLOR Runtime 9 minutes The rude, clumsy puppet Mr. Bungle shows kids how to behave in the school cafeteria - the assumption being that kids actually want to behave during lunch. This film has a cult following since it appeared on a Pee Wee Herman HBO special. Things to watch for: When Mr. Bungle is sitting at the lunchroom table the stick person on the right-hand side of him seems to fall due to the sheer power of psychic energy or the power of the deadly vibrating palm. When Phil washes his hands, check out the insane amount of soap he uses. If Mr. Bungle were a real person, this film would be pure unadulterated slander. Film Release Date: 1959 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1988 Film 2: Santa Claus' Punch and Judy (1948) B&W Runtime 8 Minutes Highly amusing film here with a kow-socky Punch and Judy show that features as much violence as a Kill Bill film, After Santa greets a bunch of bad acting kids, (great line delivery there kids), one kid wishes for a Punch and Judy Show, and he gets it! The Punch and Judy show here is GREAT! Lots of carefully coordinated violence here.. (watch how the stick is traded off from one puppet to another!). All sorts of things here to entertain (and apparently offend) the children! Some of the children were strangely rocking back and forth. Film Release Date: 1948 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1977 Film 3: Mother Goose Stories (1946) COLOR Runtime 9 minutes Simply fantastic retelling of Mother Goose tales animated by Ray Harryhausen! His animation puts a totally fantastic spin on these age-old nursery rhymes. Little Bo Peep, Old Mother Hubbard, Queen of Hearts and Humpty Dumpty are covered. Probably the best one is the Old Mother Hubbard, which reveals some lines of the rhyme that I wasn't aware of. You can tell Harryhausen was having a ball animated this, and I loved it 50 years later. Film Release Date: 1946 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1975 Film 4: The Story Of King Midas (1953) COLOR Runtime 10 Minutes Another animated film by Ray Harryhausen, the old tale of King Midas and his lust and love for gold. Film Release Date: 1948 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1977 Film 5: Rumpelstiltskin (1950) B&W Runtime 10 Minutes Marionette puppet version of the tale about a little man who grants a miller's daughter the gift of spinning straw into gold. She learns that such a gift comes at a high price. Film Release Date: 1950 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1979 Film 6: Rural Civil Defense TV Spots (1965) B&W Runtime 10 Minutes Public service announcements by the U.S. Civil Defense office inform farmers what to do in case of nuclear attack using marionettes. Film Release Date: 1965 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1994 Film 7: Jerry Pulls the Strings (1938) B&W Runtime 42 Minutes This film is missing the opening title screen and has a lot of splices in the first 5 minutes of it. The original runtime of this film is 45 minutes so it is missing about 3 minutes. It does not affect the film in my opinion but I just wanted to be sure to mention it. Advertising film for coffee that was primarily made for screening at the 1939–40 New York World’s Fair. Uses 80 string puppets and deep, dimensional sets to explain how coffee is grown, harvested, roasted, and packed in vacuum cans to retain flavor. Film Release Date: 1938 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1967 Film 8: Wonderful World of Trains (1960) COLOR Runtime 23 minutes Nice little film that combines model trains and puppets (marionettes), there's also an little boy, and the story is about a puppet escaping from the law and telling of his many train voyages, while in the meanwhile, many types of Lionel trains whizz by. And that's the main interest of this. Plenty of war equipment, including a submarine, helicopters and yes, portable missiles! There's also neat animal-centric trains too. Love the Giraffe train! If you're into trains, then yes, this is for you! Film Release Date: 1960 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1989 Film 9: Toymaker (1960s) COLOR Runtime 14 Minutes Slightly odd movie about a puppet maker/master who has two puppets, one with dots on his face, the other with stripes. They start to bicker with each other. Puppet master steps in and basically says pretty much I'm the god of you two, and you're just one person. It's just strange to see the puppet master talking to the puppets, and the puppets responding back, but without having the master's mouth move at all. So I guess we're all invited into the puppet master's schizophrenic little fantasy. Film Release Date: 1960 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1989 I claim ownership and rights to this media. All the films on this DVD have been researched and are copyright free or the copyrights have expired due to non renewal.
