Biography: Born in 1958 in Queens, lives and works in NYC. He started tagging on the walls of Queens at the age of 10 under the name of Star10. His fascination with this world begins when he sees the metro trains covered with tags. He takes the name of Quik and puts it everywhere. He works alone, not part of any crew. Close to the theories of Hugo Martinez (UGA) which pushed writers to work on canvas and see themselves as artists, he started painting very early. Very active socially, his works denounce racial discrimination through the character of Quik and refer to his private life, to the world of art, to the world of business in a humorous and offbeat way. Essential on the international scene, his works have been included in prestigious collections of the Museum of the City of New York, Studio Museum of Harlem in New York City, of the Becht Collection in Amsterdam, Martin Visser Collection in the Netherlands, Herning Kunstmuseum in Denmark, Groninger Museum, Museum Helmond in the Netherlands, Henk Pijnenburg, Rudolph Scharpf, Martin Wong, Yaki Korenblit, Martin Sanders, Wildenberg, even the Dieter Weber collection.
