Description: Rare 1801 Matron Head Liberty Head Large Cent VG+ For Your American Coin Collection-LC032 Details Description: A nice very rare and good or better copper 1801 Draped Bust Liberty Head large cent or penny. The coin itself is better than the scan shows and has very worn details. The date is readable and Liberty's head is discernable on the obverse. The word one cent and the 1 of 1/100 are well preserved on the reverse as is the wreath surrounding the denomination. The coin has wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. The coin is nicely toned and has good eye appeal. These coins were designed by Robert Scott . Early US coins such as this are gradually getting difficult to find. Please view scan as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: 1801. Mint: NA. Size and weight: 10.89 grams of a copper and is ~28-29 mm in diameter. The coin has the plain edge design References: Page 97 in "2010 US Coin R. S. The coin has wear commensurate with its age, some scratches and bag marks, and minor bumps to the rim. A definite rare find, deserving a spot in your collection.
