Description: Here is an interesting and rare old map of Madison, Ohio, from the Atlas of Columbiana County, with Inset Maps of the villages of Jethro, New Waterford and Elkton. From actual Surveys by D. J. Lake, C.E. Published by C. O. Titus. This map includes an extensive Business Directory for New Lisbon, with listings for County and Town Officers, Attorneys-at-Law, Physicians and Surgeons, and Dentists; Editors and Publishers, Bankers, Hotel, Druggists, Dry Goods, Groceries and Confectioneries; Bootes and Shoes, Merchant Tailors, Carriage and Wagon Makers and Blacksmiths; New Lisbon Coal Company; Carpenters, Wall Paper, etc,; HSarness Makers and Tanners; Hardware and Agricultural Implements; Furniture; Livery and Sale Stables; and Miscellaneous. Hand colored. Approximately 12.5 inches by 15.75 inches. Many houses are identified by the property owner's name and the number of acres owned is shown. Among the surnames shown: Mathers, Shultz, Helman, Zimmerman, Filsons, blockson, Marsden, Jagger, Ogden, Harbaugh, Zepernick, Springer, Cleckner, Benner, Briggs, Orr, Pitcairn, Beggs, Doughton, Hoover, Benninger, Shawke, Adam, Stocksbury, etc. Also shown: Churches, Schoolhouses, Cemeteries, Main Reservoir, Water works, New Lisbon Railroad, Depot Grounds, Saw Mill, Grist Mill, Woolen Factoroy, Soap Factory, Tannery, Carpenter Shop, Court House, Jail, etc. Condition: Very scuffed and smudged, dampstained, age browned, edges tattered, separating at fold at top. See scans. Map is larger than my oversized scanner so see all scans. This map has obviously has been very used over the years, but a good mat and frame will keep it safe for generations to come. This map may be worth having a restorer work on it. If in good condition, it would be priced in the $100 +/- range. Priced on the low side because I want someone out there to take ownership and care for it! I mail maps flat, with a backer board of 200 lb test corrugated, in a clear plastic acid-free sleeve, and in a 200 lb test corrugated folder! So I am confident that it will get to you in without damage. This hard-to-find map of Madison, Ohio, has lots of information of interest to local historians, realtors, genealogists, home owners and business owners, and would make a great gift.The title page of the Columbiana County atlas does NOT come with this map.
