The plate has the insignia of the Totem of the Eagles on the front and marked McCloud, California with red script on a white china. This is a heavy piece made for restaurants and in this case a hotel. On the back is marked "Hotel Department Chas. Brown & Sons, San Francisco, CAL." The china itself has an impressed mark stating "1862 Greenwood China, Trenton N. J. 1879". The plate measures 9", most likely a salad plate made of thick porcelain or china.
