Description: Rare Silver Egyptian Coin 1923 AD or 1341 AH One Year Type 5 Piastres King Fuad For your Egyptian Coin Collection-EGC148 Details Description: A one year type very fine 1341 AH or 1923 AD Egyptian five piastres rare silver coin. The coin depicts the bust of King Fuad or Fouad the first (who ruled Egypt during the British occupation) facing right. He is wearing a fez and has the words Fouad the first King of Egypt along the edge on the obverse. The reverse has the words "Al Mamlkah Al Mesryah" (Kingdom of Egypt) in the center in beautiful calligraphy surrounded by the denomination and the date in years AD (1923) and AH (1341). The letter "H' also appears on the bottom of the reverse. This is a rare coin with low mintage of only 1,800,000. Please carefully review scan as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: 1923. Mint: Egypt (actually the coin was minted in England and has the mint mark H on the reverse for Birmingham England). Only 1,800,000 of this coin were minted. Size and weight: This is a 5 piastres, which is approximately 25 mm in diameter and weighs 7 gm of 83.3% silver. The coin has a reeded rim. References: It is KM #336. Condition: I would grade this coin as a nice very fine to extremely fine. The details are preserved and readable. The coin is better than the scan shows. It does have scratches, minor bumps to the rim, and wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. Please see photo for condition information.
