RARE 1930's S.S. SMITH CO. FITZALL MODEL 2M TILTING SCREW RIM TRUMPET MOUTHPIECE

Description: RARE 1930's S.S. SMITH CO. "FITZALL MODEL 2M V" TILTING SCREW RIM TRUMPET MOUTHPIECE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION I have been playing horns for 67 years...collecting and restoring vintage trumpets and cornets, producing custom finishes, and building custom horns for 56 years. Over the decades I amassed vast trumpet/ cornet/ mouthpiece collections. During the past few years I have thinned out the herds and continue to do so. PLEASE LOOK AT THE OTHER MOUTHPIECES I HAVE LISTED For your consideration, here is an excellent example of a very rare early model tilting screw rim trumpet mouthpiece. Unlike the standard screw rims that are two-piece units, this mouthpiece has three pieces consisting of the one-piece shank and cup, a base ring, and the rim that screws on to the base ring producing an adjustable angle ball and socket construct. Additionally, the cup interior has a sculpted ridge that can be oriented at either the 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock position thus producing different laminar air flow patterns/ tonal changes? (see photos 5 & 6). This cup ridge is mirrored by a contoured shape of the shank at the beginning of the back bore (see photo #7). There is a minor scratch on the outer rim and circular marks/ scratches at the bottom of the shank (see photos). The mouthpiece remains unaltered and retains its original silver plating. Here's the 1930 ad: "For brilliant, snappy high and low tones the "Fitzall" compensating features have no equal. Used and endorsed by leading musicians. 0 to 10 degrees of springy flexibility coupled with rigidity plus new 1930 scientific cuppings and tone tapers. It's hot! It's a wow!
