Description: It is hard to escape the legacy of the Punch Magazine. From 1841 to 2002, the magazine cast a satirical eye on life in Britain. It charted the interests, concerns and frustrations of the country and today it stands as an invaluable resource not just as cartoon art and satire, but for social historians.Illustration by L. Then from 1934 it all went wrong and three consecutive series were lost. This decline coincided with the reign of Bob Wyatt, one of the least glamorous men to have captained England. He led the team more times between the wars than anyone except the considerably more successful Chapman. A dour batsman, unremarkable bowler and uninspiring leader, Wyatt suffered from comparisons to his immediate predecessors. While the team’s fall from grace — to the despair of the press and establishment — was not all Wyatt’s fault, the combination of his particular brand of theory-driven tactics and lack of connection with the players hardly provided the inspirational leadership required for a team in transition.-- Leonard Raven-Hill (10 March 1867 - 31 March 1942) was an English artist, illustrator and cartoonist..Over 3,000 Punch cartoons listed for sale, combine orders and save shipping charges. Questions are always welcome. Punch, a magazine of humor and satire, ran from 1841-2002. A very British institution renowned internationally for its wit and irreverence, it helped to coin the term "cartoon" in its modern sense as a humorous illustration.
