Description: Vintage Rare Art Deco Keller & Guerin, Luneville, France Faience Ceramic Plate with Dancing Couple in Alsatian Costume, 1920-1930's Delightful Art Deco ceramic plate was manufactured by the Keller and Guerin, Luneville Faience Ceramic Company in France. The design on the plate was created by George Condé (1891-1980), a French Art Deco artist. The ceramic plate portrays a dancing couple wearing traditional costume from the Alsace region and may have been created as one of a series of plates depicting local costumes from various regions of France. The underside is stamped with the maker's marks: K et G Luneville FRANCE (a green printed mark) and symbol G (an impressed mark). The style of decoration is pure Art Deco and was probably hand decorated using 3 stencils, one for each color. This plate is a fun and scarce example of a ceramic piece from Luneville during the early Modernist years of the Art Deco style in the 1920-30's. Dimensions: 8-1/8" diameter, 1-1/16" deep Condition: Very Good. No visible cracks, discoloration, wear to decoration, or repairs. There is a very small glaze chip on the inner edge of the base ring and some of the clear glaze on the bottom is finely crazed (see photo).
