Description: A handsome set of antique bookends of a terrier dog. Not listed in Kuritzky and De Costa's Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends (2006). Each bookend is embossed on the bottom of the back side "NY Brass Co 1928" though this mark is indistinct on one bookend and not well-centered on the other one. Each bookend also has the number "125" embossed at the top center of the back side. MATERIAL: Despite the name of the manufacturer, the bookends are made of cast iron, because a magnet sticks. The bookends have an applied verdigris patina and are not made of bronze. CONDITION: The bookends are in very nice condition. One bookend has two faint handwritten letters on the back, "PR" I think. There is light wear on the back sides from rubbing against books. The felts on the bottoms are different shades of green; I believe one is original to the set, and the other is a replacement. DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT: Each bookend is approximately 5.25" tall, 5.25" wide, and 2" deep at the base. The bookends as a set weigh 4 pounds, 0.6 ounces. The photographs are part of the description.
